The Wall

I loved you with my heart and soul
Your touch did lift me to the sky
You loved me from that distant shoal
I remember with a sigh

I asked you pleading not to go
You only had one choice to make
Your breaking heart you didn’t show
You left me for your plane to take

I’ve always been in love with you
A piece of heart, a space so great
More than this you never knew
You left that day, a stroke of fate

There is a place at heaven’s gate
A pilgrimage we all must take
I try my soul to purge of hate
I fear my love be judged a fake

I go there every spring and fall
I’ve done this often through the years
To find your name upon the wall
And wash the dust off with my tears
